Jordyn
Having twins definitely has its challenges but seeing how much these two love each other is a huge perk! They love giving each other kisses on the head. In fact, part of our bed time routine is Kyle and I each give them a kiss and then they give kisses to each other! They do not hold hands the whole time they eat but they do reach out and hold hands part of the time. It is so cute how one will all of a sudden look at her sister and try and reach her hand. When the other one realizes it, she will reach out and accept the hand holding! I'm telling you, these two love each other and it melts our hearts! After meals we put them in these jumpers because they help the girls poop. 😉 I'd say 95% of the time they are poopy after jumping. One morning Kyle put them in these and went back to the bedroom to finish getting ready for church. I was in the bedroom and heard Jordyn fussing. I came out and they were facing the same way as the picture above. Jordyn was jabbering in a yelling kind of voice. I asked her if she was mad because Adalyn wouldn't look at her. I spun Adayln's saucer around so she could play with her toys and face Jordyn. As soon as I turned Adalyn, Jordyn was happy! I found a new system to bathe and change the girls when I am home alone with them! Kyle is gone 2-3 evenings a week. I saw on Pinterest once how people use laundry baskets to give babies a bath so they don't fall as easily. Kyle was about to leave for youth group one night and I was changing Jordyn's diaper. I didn't want to put a new one on her since she was about ready for a bath but I also didn't want to risk her peeing on the carpet. I had just finished putting away their laundry and saw the empty laundry basket on the floor. I thought it would be pretty easy to clean up if she peed in it. I put her in the basket with a toy while I got Adalyn ready. I pushed them in the basket to the bathroom. (Kyle snapped this picture on his way out the door.) Below is a picture of them in the tub. It worked so great! Adalyn has gotten so much better at sitting but is still a little unpredictable. She does great in the basket! The sides help her if she tilts a little too far. Our tub has a slow leak. By the time the girls are finished with the bath, the water is low enough I can take them out of the basket and lay them on their backs in the tub. I am able to take the basket out and dry it real quick then wrap the girls and put them back in the basket and push them back to their bedroom! I take Adalyn out first, because she is very mobile, and leave Jordyn in with a toy. I am able to dress Adalyn and give her a toy to play with while I take Jordyn out and dress her. As soon as Jordyn is ready, I feed them both, read them a story, and put them in bed! I know the basket thing won't work forever but it is sure saving me a lot of trouble right now! Those nights without Kyle are exhausting! I am SO thankful for how helpful and involved he is when he is home! We had our first bath time poop the other night! 😳 Of course it happened while Kyle was at youth group and I was behind on the night time stuff. I decided I was going to make life easier for myself and skip a bath. I put the girls in their jumperoos to let them do their pooping thing before bed. We ended up talking to my mom on FaceTime. As we were chatting, Jordyn was getting fussy. I had the phone propped so my mom could see the girls while we talked. As I lifted Jordyn out of the jumperoo, my mom says, "Ewww, I think Jordyn has poop on her leg!" I checked and sure enough, she had a blow out that got on the jumperoo seat and her onesie. I told my mom I had to go. Adalyn by this point was getting fussy too. I hurried and took Jordyn to the bathtub. (I have found that is the easiest way to clean her blow outs.) I wiped off her leg with a wipe and took her clothes off. I rinsed her with the bath water then set her in the laundry basket while I cleaned the tub and got it ready because she now needed a bath. When the tub was clean, I got Adalyn, who was now crying, and took her clothes off. She was poopy but thankfully it was contained in her diaper! I got ready to put Jordyn in the tub only to discover she had peed in the laundry basket! I moved Jordyn to the tub and put Adalyn in with her. I had all my supplies in the bathroom since Jordyn had just pooped. I was able to clean and disinfect the basket while sitting next to the tub. I did a quick wash on the girls and dried and moved Jordyn to the basket. I turn back around to get Adalyn out only to find several poop nuggets floating ALL around her! I just started laughing and said, "Oh my goodness girls! Are you kidding me?" I picked Adalyn up and turned the bath water on and rinsed her off. I called that good and dried her and pulled them in the basket to their room to get changed. Needless to say, I was worn out by the time they went down and I got all the poo cleaned up in the house! The last 2 weekends have been nice enough for us to take the girls for a walk. They are now big enough for the real stroller seats. This stroller is the same one on which we've been hooking their carriers. I couldn't get over how big they looked! They look like toddlers in the stroller! We also stopped at the park for a little bit. The picture with both of them makes me laugh. Adalyn was watching the girl next to her swing but it looks like she is thinking, "Really parents?! You still think it's cute to make us share?" 🙄 Thanks to Bethany Dobbertin and family, we also have a jogging stroller! They no longer needed their's and passed it on to us! I over slept one morning and missed my running group's run. I was able to take the girls out for a run after their morning nap. We went 4 miles and they loved it despite the grumpy looks! 😉 On Saturday, it was super nice out so we went on a family run/walk. We started giving them finger foods. Picking up food is still challenging. Jordyn can sometimes get them in her mouth. Adalyn hasn't figured out how to let go when she gets the food to her mouth. These girlies are getting too big! They are so much fun though! Jordyn is ambitious! She doesn't work on perfecting her skills but moves on to the next thing. As soon as she learned to sit, she started scooting. Once she figured out crawling, she moved on to pulling herself up on stuff. Adalyn on the other hand, takes her time and really perfects her skills. She started sitting at the beginning of February. She has gotten pretty good at it too! Now that she can sit for quite awhile, she is starting to get her legs under her bum and push up in the crawling stance. She even started scooting the other day! It won't be long before Jordyn is chasing her! I will end this month's post with pictures of the girls playing. Watching them play is seriously the best part of my week! Kyle and I decided that I will not go back to work next school year! I am looking forward to being home everyday and getting to watch them play! I love my job when I am at school but I also really LOVE my job at home. I decided I can be a teacher the rest of my life, but they will only be this little for a few years. I know everyone is different, but this is the best decision for us! Jordyn's pulling herself up in the crib! 😬 This girl can be so silly! Jordyn likes to take a break from crawling and do this! 😜 Adalyn reading her favorite book from Papa Chuck. Jordyn does this with everything! Simetimes she cries when I lay her on her back. It's like she is saying, "Mom, I'm not a little baby anymore! Let me sit!" I sit her up, and she is happy! This was a Sunday morning before dresses went on! 😉 Yay! She can follow me down the hall! I've been trying to get her to do this for a while now! It will probably backfire but I'm hoping it makes transporting them from room to room easier! Working on crawling skills! Playtime fun! One last picture! They look HUGE! 😪😊
