I wanted to post one more time before our lives completely change. I am a little nervous adding another baby to our family simply because it already seems busy as it is! As busy as we are, I can't imagine life any other way so I am sure I will feel that way once baby girl #3 arrives! I can't believe how much these two cuties have grown over the course of my pregnancy! I'm pretty sure Adalyn wasn't even walking when I first found out I was pregnant! Besides looking more and more like big kids and less like babies, they have also learned so much in these last 9 months! Jordyn is saying more words but also understands so much! We can tell her to get her shoes or put them away and she will! One day she didn't see her shoes in the closet where we normally keep them and she came back with a different pair. I told her we weren't wearing those shoes and to put them back. I told her her shoes were in the kitchen. She ran back to her room and put her tennis shoes away and then went to the kitchen and got her nicer shoes. Adalyn's speech has really taken off! She will say, "Bye Daddy" or "Bye Mom" when Kyle or I leave. It is so precious to hear! In this picture she is pointing to a duck and saying, "duck". She also started calling Jordyn, "Sis". I've been working with them on saying their sister's name. I'd say, "Say, Jordyn" and Adalyn would say, "Jor". One day I asked her to say Jordyn and she just said, "Sis". We asked her a million times that day and every time she'd say, "Sis"! I have no idea how she picked that up other than us referring to Jordyn as her sister. It is pretty cute! We also started potty training. Jordyn does pretty well with it and even indicates that she has to go sometimes. We were at the mall playing in the indoor play place and she started fussing and holding her pants. I asked her if she needed to go to the bathroom and she started to leave the play place. I thought for sure she'd have an accident. We made it to the nearest bathroom and she was dry and went! She does have other days where she would rather play and has an accident. We haven't mastered the poop part yet. She typically goes in her diaper first thing after waking up or during nap. We'll get there though! Adalyn is also doing great with potty training! She hasn't shown signs of indicating that she needs to go to the bathroom but is really good at holding it until I take them. We go about every hour but sometimes if we are out running errands it can be as long as 2 hours. She is dry most days! She is scared of public restroom toilets so I have to bring our potty chair and keep it in the van. She will go fine in the van for me. We are still working with poop with her too. She likes looking at her poop when I dump it in the toilet and says bye to it. The doctor said sometimes poop can take a year longer to learn. Thankfully they don't poop in their pants every day and when they do we can just dump it. I am liking that we have gone from 10 diapers a days to 4 between the 2 of them! Everyone with twins talks about how huge that first year milestone is and I agree, so huge! Life got so much easier after a year compared to when we first brought them home. I've learned that as a lot of things get easier you still run into the new things that replace the hard. Once the girls hit 18 months, I started to notice that while they are able to do a lot for themselves, we are also now dealing with new behavior issues. They have started to realize that they have a choice and don't have to do what we say or what we expect. They (one girl more than the other...for now) have started testing the boundaries we have set. We are trying our best to be consistent but it is so very tiring! As much as I dislike the phrase, "terrible twos", I am beginning to see why it gets so much hype. I still want to avoid using it because I believe my perspective and attitude affect how I feel as I parent. Having my mom and other moms to talk to has really helped me (and Kyle) as we navigate through these toddler years. I love these two girls so much and it's moments like the picture above that remind me of that! And because everyone loves pictures, here are some from the last 4 months!
