Our Labor Day weekend was filled with lots of family! The girls got to meet all of their living great grandparents and some of their great aunts and uncles. We started the weekend by visiting Kyle's grandma and then saw his Aunt Debbie at her work. We forgot to get a picture with Aunt Debbie! Next on our stop was my mom's house. We spent Friday-Monday at her house. My papaw, Uncle Randy, and Aunt Connie came up for the weekend and stayed at my mom's too. They loved seeing the girls and the girls liked them too. Both babies flashed their pretty smiles all weekend! 😄 Papaw with Jordyn and Adalyn. It was fun seeing him enjoy holding the girls! Uncle Randy is pretty funny! :-) She looks so big sitting up like this! Grandma Karen got to meet the twins! Karen went to our church and helped my mom with us quite often! We called her Grandma Karen :-). She lives near Ashlan in AZ now. Our 6 year anniversary was Saturday the 5th. Since we had 5 adults at the house, we took advantage and went out on a date! We enjoyed horse shoes at Darcy's, Cold Stone ice cream, and putt-putt golf. On Sunday we visited Lakeside, my home church. This time I remembered to take some pictures! The picture below is the same, but Dorthy joined in and Denny stepped out. All of these wonderful people have known me since I was born! They have all been a huge part of my life! Some were Sunday School teachers, babysitters, and all adults to look up to. It was so fun seeing them and giving them a chance to see the girls! This boy LOVES babies! He is so sweet and gentle! He did not know we were going to be at church and was really excited to see us! He loves to snuggle with Adalyn! ❤️❤️ The girls LOVED taking baths in Grammy's big sink. They were able to lay in it and kick their little legs. They both kick their legs a lot and had fun splashing the water. Several of us just stood around the sink and laughed at how much fun they were having! We're obsessed! Uncle Damon and Auntie Em were able to stop by on Sunday. The girls had fun smiling and cooing with Auntie Em. Grammy and Auntie Em had fun dressing the girls up! This is supposed to be a tutu but if worn on the head it looks like Chief Illiniwek! ;-) I know, I know, wrong colors! On Monday morning we took the girls swimming! Emily and I took Jordyn the day before because she woke up from her nap early. Jordyn LOVED the water. She loved it again when her dad had her. Adalyn did great too! I held her facing me as she got used to the temperature. I eventually turned her around and she completely relaxed. She just wanted to see what was going on! Based on how well they did, I think we are going to have 2 little fish on our hands! 😊🐠🐠 On our way home Monday, we decided to stop and feed the girls in Bloomington. Kyle's aunt and uncle live there so we gave them a call and they were home! Aunt Sherry had fun talking and playing with Jordyn while Adalyn was eating. It might look like Aunt Sherry pinched Adalyn, but that was not the case! 😉 I mentioned before that Adalyn has tummy issues sometimes. When we got in the car, she spit up a ton so that was probably why she was upset. Adalyn is such an easy going baby that when she cries it is usually related to her acid reflux. We had a great weekend and were blessed to get to spend so much of it with family!

I'm sure I could start every month post by saying this, but it is hard to believe another month has gone by! The girls have grown and developed so much! Jordyn
Adalyn
It has been so fun being able to interact with them! I started wondering if they would ever do more than eat, sleep, and scream! We are still figuring out feedings. Adalyn still struggles with tummy problems. It is hard to feed them at the same time because she will scream to be burped which upsets Jordyn. If I feed them separate, the one not eating gets impatient. At night, Kyle has been taking Adalyn for walks to keep her calm while Jordyn eats. I will start feeding them together then Adalyn needs a break to burp so Kyle takes her. Being outside helps her calm down enough to burp. The girls have had a busy month! They started sleeping in their room in their own cribs! They also got their 2 month shots. 😥 Like expected, they screamed! Jordyn screamed so hard that she didn't scream. It was one of those stop breathing screams. I was grateful for my moms help! I held Jordyn and my mom held Adalyn. We stopped and bought tylenol on the way home. They seemed okay just fussy at night for a few nights. Since they got their shots, we started sending them to the church nursery. The girls do great! We have been going to first service and they pretty much sleep the whole time. In between services, I go and feed them. Depending on if there are enough volunteers, I stay back and help out. The ratio is 2:1 so the girls take 1 volunteer! ;-) We had a busy few weeks with school starting. I moved rooms so I had to completely unpack and reorganize. I do not go back until October 5, but I still wanted to set up my room. When I go back, I will be part time. I am working Mondays, Wednesdays, and half day Fridays. I was fortunate to have my mom here to watch the girls one week. The next week I was on my own. I took the girls with me one day, but as you can imagine, I got nothing done! The next day Elly came with me and helped me take care of the girls and she did projects in the room for me! I would not have been ready in time if it weren't for her help! Every August our church holds a church picnic at a local water park. The girls had a great time being outside! They slept great that night...they went a whole 5 hours!!! We even let them get their feet wet. 😊 Jordyn wasn't sure about the water at first which surprised me because she loves being in the water during her bath time! I think the water in the pool was just a little too cold. After a few seconds, she was fine with it :-) We're looking forward to next year when they will be big enough to actually go swimming! So the NICU holds an annual picnic for families who have spent time in the NICU. It is fun for them to see babies grow up! We went this past weekend and got to see some families that were there with us. In this picture, there are seven babies between three couples! Adalyn is hiding behind one of the triplets. :-) I know this has been a long post, but we have had a busy month! I will leave you with 1 more picture. It's one of my favorites from this month! These are dresses made by Grammy. 😊 |
