Jordyn
Our big new thing this month is solid foods! We started solids at the beginning of the month. With the exception of prunes, we have made all the baby food so far. We'll see if we can keep up with it. It saves a lot of money! The first food the girls tried was green beans. The pictures are perfect representations of how the girls felt about the foods. We are convinced Jordyn will eat anything on a spoon. Adalyn takes a little more time getting used to foods. After the green beans, I went out and bought baby cereal. Adalyn did so much better! She even opened her mouth for more! The picture of Jordyn with an open mouth is how she eats all food we give her! She is like a little bird! These pictures are the girls trying carrots, sweet potatoes, and avacadoes. Adalyn did not care for the carrots but we tried it last week and she went for them! Like I mentioned above, they both LOVE sweet potatoes! In the picture Jordyn was distracted by the TV. That girl loves screens! 😬 Anyway, one night I gave them sweet potatoes and avacadoes. (The last set of picture are the avacados). They like both but I made the mistake of feeding them the sweet potatoes first. When they finished them, I started on the avacados. Jordyn started crying because she wanted more sweet potatoes! Bananas!Other foods they have tried that are not pictured are blueberries, pears, apples, prunes and peas. Adalyn has not warmed up to the peas yet so we hide them in stuff she does like. Sometimes she falls for it. 😉 I mentioned their favorite food is sweet potatoes but bananas are a close second. They LOVE bananas but we discovered the hard way (pun intended) that bananas constipate the girls. In fact, we've dealt with a lot of poop and lack there of this month! Once we cut the bananas out Jordyn was back to normal. Adalyn, on the other hand, was not. 😕 She is on a medicine for her acid reflux that has constipation as a side affect. She has several things going against her, poor girl! One weekend in particular it was really bad. She would scream the saddest most pitiful cry that made us want to cry. She had to poop but it was just too much for her little body to push out (sorry!). Jordyn was just showing off and went 4 times that day, 2 of which were blow outs! 😜At one point, I had both girls on the activity mat and Adalyn was trying to poop. I was trying my best to help her by moving her legs and just trying to comfort her. Jordyn was right next to Adalyn playing very nicely. Adalyn was screaming in pain and Jordyn looked at her, and stuck her (Jordyn's) thumb in Adalyn's mouth. Adalyn, who is a thumb sucker, started sucking on it. It was the sweetest thing I have seen them do! I wish I could have snapped a picture but it was too sweet not to live in the moment and not behind the camera. We give Adalyn 1-2 oz of water a day and try and give her prunes once a day. She seems better but we have to stay on top of it. We got a van! I guess I really look like a mom now! 😉 It's a 2013 Toyota Sienna. Kyle surprised us one night and the van was in our driveway. We've been talking for a while about getting one. I was thinking we'd have the money saved up by spring. Kyle is such a planner and had been researching vans in the evenings. He'd ask me if I wanted this feature or that. He also knows I feel super uncomfortable negotiating and actually make it worse! When we bought our car last year, I was there when they talked prices. The salesman would throw a number out and Kyle would throw a lower one out. The guy would go talk to his manager and come back with a price in the middle. I'd just look at Kyle with a face that said, "Let's not push it, he said he was giving us a great deal!" Kyle found the perfect van and while I was at work one day Kyle visited the dealership. He was able to negotiate a pretty great cost and bought the van. I was cautiously excited when I pulled in the driveway and saw it. I didn't want to get my hopes up if it was just a test drive! I was so busy with work and didn't pick up on any clues. He even sent me a text that day saying, "I hope our girls play soccer." We joke that once we get a van I'll be a soccer mom. I replied back, "Why?" I quickly forgot about it. Anyway, it was the biggest and best surprise he has pulled off yet! I love surprises! Traveling is SO much nicer with the van! Christmas was a lot of fun with the girls! We've gotten a lot of mileage out of Christmas clothes! We went to Lincoln one weekend and they had Christmas in the Chapel going on. They had the grinch and we couldn't resist a goofy picture! On Christmas Eve, we surprised my mom and traveled in the new van to Springfield. My mom was surprised and loved having the girls at her house for their first Christmas. She has a train that goes around her tree. The girls loved watching it! They kept their eyes on the train. When it would go behind the tree, they would turn their heads the other way knowing it would come out the other side of the tree again. We had Kyle's family at our house for 2 days. It is so fun having cousins to play with! The older cousins read a bed time story to the little cousins one night. 😊 My dad and Michelle came up from Florida and got to spend time with us a few days. They traveled all over the Midwest to spend time with all three of us! My Uncle Dan and Aunt Cyndi got to meet the twins for the first time too! This month has been busy but so enjoyable! We sure have lots to be thankful for in 2015 and more fun to look forward to in 2016. Happy New Year!
