Jordyn
It is hard to believe the summer has come and gone! We've kept busy at the splash pad and various parks. The girls and I have hit our rhythm with being home together every day. It's all going to change next week when I start watching a baby 3 days a week. They are still taking 2 naps a day but we're trying to figure out how to drop the morning nap. They usually spend the first 30 min playing and laughing. Jordyn seems to still need her nap and Adalyn seems to do fine with 1. I've been having to split them up because they have too much fun together and take too long falling asleep! I mentioned already that Jordyn is always on the move and Adalyn is content. This activity showed that perfectly. Adalyn sat in the same spot for 30 min playing with these shape toys! Jordyn sat 30 seconds and was done. 😂 Jordyn ended up playing on the slide and coming back for a minute or two then would go back to the slide. Maybe Jordyn will be a kinesthetic learner! Jordyn loves shoes, her WubbaNub, and blanky. Jordyn is always pulling out shoes and wanting them on her feet. She is always willing to try shoes on at a shoe store too! We were recently going through a bag of hand me down shoes and I was having her try them on for me. She would cry when I took them off! She only gets her blanky and Wub, as we call it, at nap and bed time. That doesn't stop her! She will turn anything into a "blanky". She has carried a dog collar, kitchen towels, baby dolls, balloons, other blankets in the house, and even the big pink blanket in the picture below! She recently discovered she can get her Wub and blanky by reaching through the railings of her crib. We had to start putting them on her dresser! Adalyn is still not walking on her own but she sure has made a lot of progress this summer. She wants to walk SO bad but just isn't quite there yet. She loves to push small items, like a laundry basket, around the house so she can walk. My mom is letting us borrow a push toy that used to be Ashlan's. She loves it but can't turn it when she runs out of space to walk. She also seriously loves books. She will randomly leave the family and go to her room to read books! We had a chance to go to 2 different Children's museums this summer. Now that the girls are older they can actually do the activities and it is fun to watch! We've also had a lot of fun swimming in our back yard this summer! Here is a little year to year comparison! We had our annual church picnic and the girls actually got to go swimming this year! They LOVED it! They really are little fish! I love this picture of the 3 of them! So precious! 💙💗💗People told me to watch out when the girls start walking because I'll really have my hands full. I think it's the opposite! I LOVE that Jordyn can walk and I am looking forward to Adalyn joining her. Getting out of the house used to be so hard! I'd have to carry both girls, my purse, and their bag and get the doors opened and locked. Now I just tell Jordyn we are going to go bye-bye and she grabs her shoes and heads for the door. So far she stays right by me and even waits to get off the porch step until I hold her hand. It's cute watching her walk to the van because our driveway is kinda steep. She trys to walk straight to the van but ends curving to the right and walking more in a diagonal direction because the driveway slopes down to the right. We've had a blast this summer! It will be fun having a little friend here 3 days a week. I keep hearing the girls are really going to change and learn a lot between now and 18 months! I'm excited for it but also wish time would slow down!
